Kris Boyd predicts three Celtic midfielders to leave, one linked with Arsenal
K that he thinks Celtic midfielders Callum McGregor, Scott Brown and Ryan Christie could all leave Parkhead in the summer – the latter of which has been linked with Arsenal this month.
Celtic have fallen to a whopping 20 points behind Old Firm rivals Rangers in the Scottish Premiership title race and many pundits are already stating that the league is already done. Some are calling for Celtic to begin planning for next season.
McGregor, now 27, has captained the Celtic side with Christie and Brown nudged out of the team. He has been linked with moves down south but has since remained to surpass 300 appearances in all competitions for the Scottish champions.
Brown is in the final year of his contract and is likely to go, while Christie is a target for Arsenal this month – , though the Gunners look set to sign Real Madrid’s Martin Odegaard. Boyd thinks all three will go in the summer.
“There are so many that will probably move on,” . “As it stands right now, you could only guarantee that [David] Turnbull will be a part of Celtic’s long-term future.
“Callum McGregor might say I’ve done all i’m going to do in Scotland and I’m going to test myself in England against the best. Ryan Christie as well. Scott Brown is not getting any younger. They’re going to need 10, 12 players.”

The likes of Odsonne Edouard, Olivier Ntcham, Kris Ajer and the club’s on-loan players could join the trio Boyd has highlighted to leave Celtic in the summer – given that 10 in a row will be over, and Celtic are now behind Rangers.
Celtic might push for it, too. They need a big overhaul to get back to winning ways and that is both in terms of playing staff, and the management. With the league more or less done, planning should begin now – rather than the summer.
