Klopp says Fabinho is fine after picking up a knock in Liverpool’s win over Benfica

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp says Fabinho picked up a minor knock in his side’s 3-1 away win over Benfica last night.

But the good news for Klopp and Liverpool fans is that the midfielder is fine and should recover within a short space of time.

The next match around the corner for the Reds is a huge one, the Premier League summit clash with Manchester City on Sunday.

Speaking after the game, Klopp said: “Fabinho has a little cut – he’s fine.

“It is a cut in the back of his head. It will need a bit of time but he should be fine.”

The games are coming thick and fast for Liverpool and although the temptation might have been there to rest players last night, they could not afford to take Benfica lightly.

By doing a hugely professional job in the first leg, Liverpool have put themselves in a commanding position for the game at Anfield.

That may mean they can give some players the night off when the Portuguese outfit come to town, but they still cannot slacken off too much.

Klopp wouldn’t allow that anyway and Liverpool have not gone so far into every competition by doing anything other than taking one game as it comes.
