Klopp must reinstate Gomez over Matip for start of 2019/20
Jurgen Klopp can be described as a loyal manager, but the German should be going with his head over his heart when the new season kicks off.
Last term the Reds started off with Joe Gomez and Virgil van Dijk as their regular centre-backs.

The pair were absolutely rock solid together, with Dutchman van Dijk obviously the main man.
Young Englishman Gomez was excellent though alongside the £75 million ace () and arguably the second-best in the league behind his teammate until his injury against Burnley.
The former Charlton Athletic prospect broke his leg and was sidelined for a good chunk of the season, allowing Joel Matip to strike up a solid partnership of his own with van Dijk.
TBR’s view
Matip was a revelation for Liverpool when he took Gomez’s place in the team, but Klopp has to be ruthless.
Gomez’s potential is vast. The starlet was showing how accomplished he is becoming during the early stages of 2018/19.
He needs to be reintegrated back into the team and he needs to pick up where he left off before he got injured.

It was understandable for Klopp to stick with Matip for the remaining games of last season when Gomez had recovered.
For the sake of momentum he had to continue alongside van Dijk, but the manager simply must resist loyalty to Matip and get Gomez in from the start.
