‘King’: 19-year-old Manchester City man among players lauding Leeds starlet on Instagram despite U23 loss
Lewis Bate has been lauded by a host of players from Leeds United and Chelsea, as well as Manchester City starlet James McAtee, on Instagram after the Whites midfielder’s performance in their under-23 defeat on Friday.
Bate was excellent as Mark Jackson’s men suffered a frustrating loss against the Blues at Thorp Arch. They went 2-0 down during the first-half before Tyler Roberts halved the deficit from the penalty spot just before the break.

Leeds were superb after the break. And it appeared that they were knocking on the door in their push for an equaliser.
But their hopes were dashed late on. Chelsea were awarded a highly controversial penalty and made the points safe.
There were some positives for Leeds however. Leo Hjelde looked very impressive at left-back. Max Dean and Joe Gelhardt meanwhile, had some bright moments in the final third.

But perhaps Leeds’ best player on the day was Bate, who, of course, was lining up against his former club.
The 19-year-old was lauded by supporters of both clubs on social media following his performance.
He was put under a lot of pressure by his opponents in the middle of the park. And at times, it did appear that he was taken out of the game.
But he still managed to make an impact, showing ambition on the ball. He managed to unlock the defence on a number of occasions. And several of their opportunities came from Bate’s good work.

Bate has now taken to Instagram to comment on the result. And in response, he has been lauded by players from several different clubs.
Cody Drameh labelled his Leeds teammate a warrior. Meanwhile, Chelsea man Xavier Simons lauded Bate after he was handed the captain’s armband at one stage…
