After beating Celtic in the Old Firm and making some exciting signings in early January, Rangers fans could not wait to face Kilmarnock upon their return to the Scottish Premiership.
The anticipation was cranked up another notch after their cup game was postponed but it was not the return to action that some might have expected.
Despite Jermain Defoe grabbing a debut goal, Rangers were beaten 2-1 by high-flying Kilmarnock.
Jordan Jones, who has signed a pre-contract with Rangers to join next season, ironically scored the winning goal.
But last night’s struggle showed Rangers why they need to fast-track another of their pre-contract signings: Glen Kamara.
Like Jones, Kamara has agreed to join Rangers next season as his Dundee contract enters its final stages.

But Rangers have been in negotiations to bring this deal forward and add the 23-year-old to their squad before the end of January.
that Rangers are confident that they can sign Kamara this month and he is just the type of player they need.
The Finland international is a tough-tackling midfielder enforcer and he would add steel and tenacity to Steven Gerrard’s ranks.
With Rangers now trialling out a formation which uses two strikers (Defoe and Alfredo Morelos), they need a midfielder of Kamara’s prowess to shore things up.
If Gerrard can bring the ex-Arsenal starlet to Rangers this month, his midfield ranks will be vastly improved.
