Kilgallon and Junior Firpo react to Luke Ayling display in Leeds loss
Luke Ayling has been lauded by a host of Leeds United players past and present after his performance in their agonising defeat to Chelsea on Saturday – on what proved to be a landmark day for the defender.
Marcelo Bielsa’s side left Stamford Bridge with nothing despite a superb showing against the Blues. They went ahead through Raphinha during the first-half. And they equalised late on thanks to Joe Gelhardt.

Unfortunately, two clumsy challenges during the second-half resulted in Chelsea receiving penalties. And ultimately, Jorginho was able to score both, with the winner coming in stoppage-time.
Leeds can take a number of positives from the game. The Whites were, of course, without the likes of Liam Cooper, Kalvin Phillips and Patrick Bamford for the fixture.

Junior Firpo arguably had his best game for Leeds. Gelhardt is off the mark in the Premier League. And Adam Forshaw and Tyler Roberts continue to prove their doubters wrong with some brilliant form.
Ayling was another who stepped up. The 30-year-old moved into centre-back in what was only his second start following his return from the injury that had kept him out since September.
And with two of Chelsea’s goals coming from penalties, it seems fair to say that Ayling can hold his head up high. He defended extremely well, ensuring that Kai Havertz had little to smile about.
‘What a signing’: Luke Ayling lauded after landmark Leeds appearance
Significantly, the game marked Ayling’s 200th for Leeds.
Understandably, the defender wanted to mark the occasion on social media. And in response, many associated with Leeds, as well as some from other clubs, lauded the former Bristol City man.
Junior Firpo hit the nail on the head regarding Ayling’s display at Chelsea, while former Leeds defender Matt Kilgallon lauded the impact he has made during his whole time at Elland Road…
