Kieran Trippier’s past comments about Sean Dyche give clue over what he’s thinking about joining Everton from Newcastle

Kieran Trippier wants to leave Newcastle United this summer and a reunion with Sean Dyche could be on the cards.

The 33-year-old right-back spent three years at Burnley where he was managed by the now-Everton manager.

Kieran Trippier is pushing to leave Newcastle before the transfer window closes at the end of the month.

Eddie Howe recently overlooked Kieran Trippier in his captaincy pick at St James’ Park with midfielder Bruno Guimaraes handed the armband instead.

He was also left out of the starting lineup for Newcastle United‘s Premier League opener against Southampton with Tino Livramento preferred at right-back.

Everton are interested in signing Trippier in a deal that would reunite him with former manager Sean Dyche.

Kieran Trippier past comments on Sean Dyche

Trippier signed for Burnley on a permanent deal in 2012 and under Dyche’s tutelage he helped the Clarets achieve promotion to the Premier League.

He continued to impress in the top flight and earned a move to Tottenham in 2015. He spent four years with Spurs and then departed for Atletico Madrid, where he worked under Diego Simeone.

When speaking about the charismatic Atletico manager, Trippier couldn’t help but to praise the impact that Dyche had on his career.

Back in 2020, Trippier told “Sean Dyche is a brilliant manager. From the first day he walked in he sorted my career out basically.

“From when I was young, stupid and going out, he just sat me down and said ‘no more’.

“Unbelievable manager and I loved playing for him and, who knows, one day I might get the opportunity to play for him again.”

As Trippier predicted, he has got the opportunity to play for Dyche again if he completes a move to Everton.

The Toffees are in need of a right-back with 39-year-old Ashley Young starting and getting sent off in their 3-0 loss to Brighton.

Trippier proved last season that he is still more than capable of performing at a high level in the Premier League and he would add leadership and experience to Everton’s squad.
