Kieran Tierney lauds Arsenal teammate David Luiz as a proper leader
Kieran Tierney that everybody at Arsenal loves David Luiz, and praised the centre-back for being a leader whether he is wearing the captain’s armband or not.
The pair both arrived at the Emirates last summer. However, it has not always been the easiest time for either player.
Tierney had struggled with injury before the season was brought to a halt. Meanwhile, Luiz’s form has been criticised at times.
However, both men proved to be key players for Mikel Arteta’s side in the final weeks of the campaign. And when asked about the Brazilian, Tierney suggested that he is loving playing alongside the defender.
“He’s a legend. The biggest legend ever. He’s so good with all the young boys. Everybody loves him. He’s a proper leader. If he’s not got the armband, he still leads,” .
There appears to be some cautious optimism about Luiz’s form. The 33-year-old was outstanding during the final games of the campaign, and there seems to be some hope that Arteta has got the best out of him.
Tierney’s comments arguably help show why Arteta kept faith with Luiz even when he came in for criticism.
And with the left-back looking like he has the potential to be an inspired signing himself, it would be no surprise to see both players play a key role for the Gunners next season as the side look to improve further.
