Kieran Tierney has one-word Instagram message for Celtic star Ryan Christie

Ryan Christie scored for Scotland as Steve Clarke’s men ended a 22-year wait to qualify for a major tournament after a penalty-shootout victory over Serbia – and Arsenal’s Kieran Tierney has sent a one-word message the Celtic star.

Scotland were tasked with beating Serbia in their own back yard on Thursday night, a tall order – even if they boasted home advantage. But David Marshall was in fine fettle, making a number of saves to thwart Serbia.

The turning point of the match came from a flash of Christie’s right boot. His turn and shot kissed the post – with lady luck shining on the Scots, as the ball ended up in the net. Scotland had to then hold on.

They did just that, until the 88th minute. Scott McTominay fell asleep, and Luka Jovic took full advantage – only for Scotland to win on penalties. Christie posted on Instagram for a second time after the match, on Friday.

Christie has been in stunning form this term. For Celtic, he has scored four goals and created eight more – in his 18 league and cup outings. His form for Scotland is a by-product of that, and Clarke is hardly complaining.

Arsenal defender Tierney, meanwhile, remains a favourite at Celtic and he commented on his Scotland and former Hoops teammate’s post – labelling him a “hero”. Mo Elyounoussi and Tony Watt also responded.
