Scott Sinclair completed a move from Celtic to English Championship side Preston North End on Thursday, ending a three-and-a-half-year stay with the Scottish champions – and two former Celtic players have reacted on Instagram.
Sinclair, 30, had fallen out of favour at Celtic under Neil Lennon with the player in his final year of his contract at Parkhead. The likes of James Forrest, Mo Elyounoussi and Mikey Johnston have all been preferred this season.
The former Manchester City star had clocked up 160 appearances for Celtic in his first three years with the club, but only managed to add another seven outings to that tally this time around. He scored 62 times, and created 34 goals.
Sinclair, who was named Celtic’s Player of the Season in his first campaign with the Hoops under Brendan Rodgers in 2016-17, posted on Instagram a heartfelt message to Celtic and the club’s supporters following confirmation that he had left.
Sinclair joins a Preston side looking to finish in the top six of the Championship and have a chance of promotion to the Premier League. Alex Neil’s side currently sit in 10th place, just three points off the play-off positions.
Dedryck Boyata, who left Celtic in the summer to join German side Hertha Berlin on a free transfer, and Kieran Tierney who moved to Arsenal for £25million at the beginning of the season, both congratulated Sinclair on his move on Instagram.
