Kieran Dowell might be surprise solution to Everton’s creative crisis

Everton played out yet another draw in the Premier League this weekend as they failed to get the better of Huddersfield Town. Dominic Calvert-Lewin cancelled out Phillip Billing’s opener but Everton fans were left rather frustrated by the display.

What is becoming increasingly clear is that Everton lack some creativity going forward. Whilst there is plenty of firepower, there is a lack of ingenuity. When it comes to crosses from the likes of Gylfi Sigurdsson, Seamus Coleman and Lucas Digne will be dangerous. Sigurdsson is deadly from set-pieces and having a great season so far, but when it comes to open play he sometimes lacks creativity.

But in the midfield there is a lack of cutting edge when it comes to an incisive pass or taking a player on.

Perhaps, it is time for Everton to gamble on something of an unproven prospect.

Kieran Dowell is exactly the sort of player Everton are craving for. The England youth international is undoubtedly something of an enigmatic talent. However, he has the ability to produce something different and cutting at the right moment in the centre of the park.

Everton are certainly missing that edge in the heart of the pitch that Dowell might be able to provide as an unknown quantity.
