Kieran Dowell celebrates promotion, but is he Everton ready?
Whilst Everton’s season has been something of a damp squib one of the club’s young talents had a weekend of celebrating. Kieran Dowell helped his Sheffield United team beat Ipswich Town on Saturday. After Leeds United drew with Aston Villa yesterday, the Blades’ promotion to the Premier League was confirmed.
Dowell joined the Championship side in January as he sought regular first-team football. At the start of the season, it appeared that Marco Silva might have first-team plans for the player after his loan spell at Nottingham Forest last season and exploits with England under-21s in the summer.
Clearly, Dowell is highly-rated by the Everton boss and perhaps, after this promotion success, he can force his way into the Everton first-team next season.

However, that is unlikely to be the case.
Dowell has performed well for Sheffield United, but certainly not at the level which will have Everton chomping at the bit to slot him into the first-team.
He has been in and out of the starting XI and his one goal and assist is hardly a breathtaking statistical return.
The midfielder is still only 21-years-old and Everton still have high hopes for the player. But another season out on loan might be needed for the mercurial attacker.
