Newcastle then, are on the lookout for a new sporting director. state that four names are on the Toon’s shortlist, with Paul Mitchell top of the list. He has impressed at Monaco and Tottenham Hotspur.
But there are three others being considered. Brentford’s Phil Giles, Roma chief Tiago Pinto and West Ham man Tim Steidten. The German only joined West Ham last summer as the club’s transfer chief.

Newcastle could raid West Ham for sporting director Tim Steidten
Now, Steidten could end up at newcastle less than a year after moving to West Ham. It is unclear how much in terms of compensation, Newcastle would have to pay the Hammers to land the German chief.
Pinto has impressed at Roma over the years, while Brentford have risen under the guidance of Giles – who has worked well with Bees boss Thomas Frank. As things stand, Mitchell is favourite to get the gig.
It is unclear what Steidten would think about a move to Newcastle – but the lure of a massive transfer budget, albeit with the constraints of Financial Fairplay – will surely tempt the former Leverkusen man.
