Kevin Campbell says Arsenal need an upgrade on 25-year-old defender
Kevin Campbell has stated that Arsenal need to sign an upgrade for their right-back Hector Bellerin.
Bellerin, who earns £110,00-a-week (), has been the first-choice right-back at the Emirates Stadium for years.
The Spanish defender joined Arsenal’s academy back in 2011 after leaving Barcelona and has made an impressive 232 senior appearances now for the Gunners.
He’s a speedster that has played 28 games across all competitions so far this season, with versatile defender Cedric Soares acting as his understudy.
But Arsenal-supporting pundit and ex-Gunners forward Campbell feels that his former club need to sign an improvement in the summer if they want to kick on.
“We need obviously a better right-back because I think Bellerin does a certain job. We need a right-back, not only who can defend, but one who’s going to be a problem going forward,” Campbell told

TBR’s View:
If you were to rank the very best right-backs in the Premier League right now, it would be difficult to put Bellerin anywhere near the conversation.
The 25-year-old is no longer the exciting young teenager that burst onto the scene at the North London club, with many people tipping him at the time to be one of the very best full-backs around.
But he’s failed to really kick onto that elite level, with every world-class display somewhat overshadowed by a poor one.
His form has unfortunately been inconsistent under Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta, so it’ll be interesting to see if that is an area of the pitch that is targeted in the next transfer window.
