Kenny Miller wowed by Rangers player who brings ‘about 10 or 15 points’ a season
Glasgow Rangers goalkeeper Allan McGregor has been praised by Ibrox icon Kenny Miller following his continued heroics for Steven Gerrard’s side.
The 39-year-old has been a superb player for the Gers over the years and has been instrumental for the Light Blues in their successful pursuit of title number 55.
McGregor has made 386 competitive senior appearances for Rangers over two spells, and has won four Scottish Premiership titles, five Scottish League Cups and three Scottish Cups.
This season, he has featured 35 times, keeping 20 clean sheets and conceding just 24 goals.
McGregor was decisive for Rangers in the last Old Firm game at Ibrox on January 2, keeping out a dominant Celtic side, before the Gers went on to win the game 1-0.
And Miller, who was a teammate of McGregor’s in his first spell at Ibrox, told the veteran keeper is the “best I’ve played with and is still producing big moments at his age of 39”.
“It’s credit to him because there’s always been a perception of Allan that he’s a bit of a joker and a mad-cat goalkeeper, and he is – but when he turns up to work nobody works harder,” Miller said.
“He pulls off huge saves at big, big moments. Like you say, the Old Firm game he was absolutely outstanding in, and he was the difference.
“Rangers were under a lot of pressure in that first 15 or 20 minutes while Celtic were playing some outstanding football and creating chance after chance but they just couldn’t find a way past him.
“That’s what he does. He brings about 10 or 15 points a season with some of the saves he makes. He’s definitely had a hand in Rangers’ European run with the big saves he’s made.”

What else can be said about McGregor that hasn’t been said? He continues to shine for Rangers and his place as an Ibrox legend is assured.
His contract runs out in the summer but surely he’s got another two or three years in him, so let’s hope Gerrard can persuade him to stay on.
If that doesn’t happen, then hopefully McGregor will remain at Rangers in a different capacity, as a coach perhaps.
