Kenny Miller stunned by Rangers star who ‘covered the distance’ v Real Betis
Glasgow Rangers star Dujon Sterling earned praise from Ibrox cult hero Kenny Miller for his efforts in the Europa League on Thursday night.
The Rangers defender came off the bench for the Ibrox outfit to help Philippe Clement’s side triumph away at Real Betis, putting the Gers into the last 16.
Sterling, a full-back by trade, played as a defensive midfielder in the game and performed brilliantly. He broke up play expertly and routinely carried the ball out of danger.
“Sterling’s been brilliant this second half,” Miller said on BBC Sportsound, via the website. “He’s plugged gaps, he’s covered the distance.”
The 24-year-old will now fancy his chances of starting for Rangers in Sunday’s Scottish League Cup final against Aberdeen at Hampden Park.

Abdallah Sima continued his recent run of good form when he scored after only nine minutes to give the Light Blues an early lead.
Juan Miranda equalised four minutes later, but Cyriel Dessiers put Rangers back in front in the 20th minute.
Betis restored parity once again with eight minutes left in the first half, and the score remained at 2-2 until the latter stages of the match.
Connor Goldson whipped the ball across the box and Rabbi Matondo got a touch on to it before Kemar Roofe scrambled home to put Rangers back in front.
The Light Blues held out to secure their spot in the last 16 of the Europa League in Clement’s biggest result since taking the Ibrox reins.
Rangers’ win, their first ever against a Spanish side on Spanish soil in European competition, ended Betis’ unbeaten home record this season.
