Kenny Miller says 28-year-old player heavily linked to Rangers would jump at the chance to join Celtic

With the number of transfer links concerning Celtic starting to intensify, it seems that the club could be set to make a couple of additions before the deadline day window closes.

Links to Layvin Kurzawa and the imminent signing of Adam Idah will not be enough to appease the Celtic supporters as they expected to have witnessed more business completed prior to today.

However, as the fans wait to see who will come to the club, Kenny Miller has said that there is one player who would jump at the chance to join Celtic despite being heavily linked to Rangers.

Lawrence Shankland has been spoken about in Celtic circles for a long time now but, as yet, there has been nothing official on whether or not there is interest from the Parkhead club.

However, across the city, Rangers have reportedly on numerous occasions but Miller believes that wouldn’t should Celtic come calling.

Asked if Shankland would need to be convinced on a Parkhead move, Miller said [], “I don’t think you would have any convincing to do at all.

“I think to go and work for a manager like Brendan Rodgers as well would be a massive plus for him.

“I think he’s got a brilliant track record of taking players up a right few levels in his time as a coach and a manager.

“So I don’t think he would take any convincing if there was a genuine interest from Celtic.”

Shankland is said to be a huge Rangers supporter but as a professional, that really doesn’t matter when it comes to choosing what’s best for your career.

Clearly, a move to Celtic makes more sense for most footballers. The Parkhead club have been the most dominant team in the country over the past two decades and the chances of picking up silverware and playing in the Champions League are much improved in Glasgow’s east end.

Would Shankland choose Celtic over Rangers if push came to shove? I suppose that is a question that may well be answered before the close of play tonight.
