Kenny Miller has singled out Rangers captain James Tavernier as the “catalyst” for the team at Ibrox.
With just a maximum of four points needed for the Gers to clinch the league title, widespread praise is rightfully being thrown towards Steven Gerrard’s men.
The Light Blues are storming towards the league crown, which incidentally could be won against rivals and last season’s champions Celtic later in March.
Ex-Rangers forward Miller has named £14,000 () star Tavernier as a talisman for his side.
The 29-year-old defender is currently sidelined through injury, but he’s been an ever-present for most of the season and has been so influential.
“He’s not just a leader, he’s the catalyst for a lot of their play. He’s a big attacking threat down the right flank,” Miller told
“His assists, his goals over his five years at the club has been nothing short of outstanding for a full-back. He’s had a big influence on the team since he came to the club.”
TBR’s View:
Tavernier will always get the headlines for his attacking output.
Remarkably, the right-back has scored 17 goals and supplied 15 assists across all competition this season.
The English full-back, who joined the Scottish giants back in 2015, has gone on to become the club captain and it seems inevitable he will get to lift the league crown.
But it’s also worth point out that his game has improved massively defensively too, as he’s part of a team that have been a defensive rock domestically.
Him and opposite full-back Borna Barisic are such crucial parts to the system that Gerrard has implemented at Rangers.
