Kenedy flopped once again for Newcastle in the FA Cup

Newcastle United winger Kenedy was in a great position at the end of last season, as he enjoyed a successful loan spell at St James’ Park and helped them avoid relegation from the Premier League.

The 22-year-old re-joined on another loan in the summer and most were thrilled he was back at the club.

He helped inject some extra quality and pace to the Magpies in attack, while he demonstrated the individual quality on the ball that made him a fan favourite.

But he’s had some fall from grace this season and that was confirmed with his performance in the FA Cup third round draw at home to Blackburn Rovers on Saturday.

Matt Ritchie’s late penalty was enough to earn Rafael Benitez’s side a 1-1 draw and it means they have a replay at Ewood Park.

Newcastle were not at their best against Championship opposition and Kenedy certainly fell into that category.

The left-winger has started just two of the last seven league games and had a chance in the cup to get back on track against lesser opposition.

But he was fairly non-existent in an attacking sense, as he played in a more central role behind the striker and failed to create much in front of goal.

The Brazilian is now struggling to get himself involved in matches and is missing that spark that supporters used to adore about him.

Kenedy is on an all-time low for confidence right now and needs an elite performance out of nowhere to turn things around, which maybe he can deliver if he gets a chance in the cup replay.
