Kemar Roofe’s response to Patrick Bamford’s Leeds return will be intriguing

Leeds United’s Kemar Roofe has been the club’s outstanding centre-forward this season and has a decent return of 14 Championship goals so far.

The 26-year-old has proven to be a brilliant spearhead in attack for Marcelo Bielsa’s team with his work-rate, quick movement and eye for goal.

But the attacker is now likely to sink or swim in the next few months, where he could go on to smash the 20-goal barrier or grind to a halt.

Roofe is now set to be under pressure once again following the return of Patrick Bamford, who is genuine serious competition for the sole striker position.

Roofe now has one goal in his last six league games and his spot in the starting XI may no longer be guaranteed unless he rediscovers his best form.

It’s a major positive for the Whites that Bamford is now in contention again for them, as he’s a natural goalscorer and netted in his last two appearances for the club.

The 25-year-old will be hoping to force his way into Bielsa’s team and will have eyes on dislodging Roofe from his position.

Leeds are going to benefit in their promotion bid if at least one of their frontline strikers is in good form, but it will be intriguing to see if Roofe can handle the heat that left-footed ace Bamford is set to put on him.
