Kemar Roofe sends Instagram message to Rangers fans, old teammates respond

Kemar Roofe has sent an excited message to Rangers supporters on Instagram after it was confirmed he had joined Rangers on a four-year deal – prompting reaction from Caleb Ekuban, Leeds players and a new Aberdeen signing.

Roofe, 27, has joined Rangers after weeks of speculation – a deal to be worth £4million. It comes after a difficult spell in Belgium that saw Roofe manage just 16 appearances during 2019-20.

A number of injuries limited the former Leeds United ace to that figure, which has seemingly seen Anderlecht decide to cash in on the attacker – despite Roofe scoring seven times and creating three more in purple.

Roofe posted on Instagram after it was confirmed he had signed for Rangers. It sees Roofe boast three impressive managers in the last three seasons – in Marcelo Bielsa, Vincent Kompany and now Steven Gerrard.

Roofe is one of two signings made by Gerrard and Rangers on Tuesday, with Switzerland international Cedric Itten also joining the club from Swiss side FC Gallen on a permanent basis.

Plenty of Roofe’s former teammates responded including Ryan Edmondson, who joined Aberdeen on loan from Leeds last week before making a substitute appearance during the Gers’ 1-0 win at Pittodrie on Saturday.

Leeds stars including Luke Ayling, Mateusz Klich and Rangers fan Barry Douglas reacted, as did recently Rangers-linked striker Caleb Ekuban who also played alongside Roofe at Elland Road.
