Bolton Wanderers’ Championship fixture with Brentford was postponed at the weekend, with the Trotters’ players on strike over unpaid wages at the crisis club.
The story has certainly divided much of the football community. Many feel that the players should not be refusing to play whilst others are backing them in their fight against the management.

Keith Andrews played for Bolton from 2012 until 2015 and it is clear he is fully in support of the players and management at the University of Bolton Stadium. He told Sky Sports during coverage of Norwich City against Blackburn Rovers (27/04/2019)…
“I’ve heard some gumble today about the players are a disgrace for not playing the game. I think they’ve held their council unbelievably well this season, along with Phil Parkinson. The fact they’ve kept the fight up until a couple of weeks ago, to stay in this division, is a testament to their character…
“People assume out there that they are on absolute fortunes. They’re not. Bolton Wanderers players are not on fortunes. Compared to the average man out there? I accept that. But they’ve still got commitments and the way they’ve gotten on with I think it’s been a credit to themselves. I don’t blame them at all.”
TBR’s View
It is easy for the everyman out there to get annoyed at footballers for taking strike action. However, Andrews makes a valid point regarding the money the players at Bolton are probably making.
The fact is, not being paid is not being paid and the Bolton players are entitled to their action.
Hopefully, the ongoing takeover from Laurence Bassini is not on the verge of collapse, despite
Because this sorry situation is not fair on the players, the backroom staff or, most importantly, the fans of Bolton Wanderers.
