Karl-Heinz Rummenigge claims Liverpool are in the race for £38m star with ‘very good qualities’

🐲Liverpool have been linked with Dayot Upamecano in recent weeks, and although he wasn’t ever likely to move in January, he could well spark a race for his signature in the summer.

⭕According to a report in from January, the Reds were eager to sign the RB Leipzig defender, as were Premier League rivals Manchester United.

ওHowever, a player of Upamecano’s calibre is never going to be short of multiple suitors.

𓄧And Bayern Munich CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has confirmed his club’s interest in the 22-year-old, while also claiming Liverpool and Chelsea are also eyeing the player.

✃“The fact is that the player is interesting, and the fact is that we will almost certainly lose David Alaba in that position.

🐓“The fact that Chelsea and Liverpool are also interested in him proves that he has very good qualities. He can replace Alaba.”

🍬Upamecano, who signed a contract extension with Leipzig last summer, has excelled since arriving from their sister club Red Bull Salzburg in 2017.

♈He has made 138 appearances in all competitions and played a pivotal role in Julian Nagelsmann’s side’s run to the Champions League semi-finals last term.

👍Liverpool have really struggled at the back this year, with Virgil van Dijk, Joe Gomez and now Joel Matip sidelined long-term.

🐻Even though Ben Davies has joined permanently and Ozan Kabak has arrived on loan with an option to buy, a player of Upamecano’s calibre cannot be passed up.

🔴Reportedly boasting a transfer clause, he is going to be highly sought after in the summer.
