Kalvin Phillips shows touch of class on Instagram with message to Leeds ace Pablo Hernandez

Kalvin Phillips has shown a touch of class on Instagram with a message to substitute Pablo Hernandez after the Spanish veteran finally returned to the Leeds United side to help the Whites overcome Newcastle United.

Leeds earned a 5-2 win over Newcastle – ending a dismal run of just one win in six, in which they have picked up just four points. Patrick Bamford, Rodrigo, Stuart Dallas, Gjanni Alioski and Jack Harrison all got their names on the score sheet.

Phillips started the match and was in excellent form, making numerous interceptions and rarely misplacing a pass. Hernandez, meanwhile, came off the bench to make his first appearance since November 2 with Marcelo Bielsa claiming he had an injury.

Hernandez had not played since reacting angrily to being substituted against Leicester – missing the next five games. But he came off the bench with 10 minutes to go and in true Hernandez style, the Spaniard laid on two assists. Phillips responded.

TBR’s view – Hernandez sends reminder to Bielsa

Bielsa may have decided against giving Hernandez game time to teach him a lesson after his reaction – especially after Hernandez’s wife claimed he was fit recently, when Bielsa said he was injured. But after Wednesday, everything will be healed.

Indeed, Hernandez only got 10 minutes but he will have reminded Bielsa why he deserves to start or at least be brought on as a substitute every match. He laid on assists for Alioski and Harrison – and it will be interesting to see if he plays this weekend.

Leeds take on Manchester United on Sunday and they might just require a bit of magic to beat their bitter rivals – something which the £19k-a-week () star is more than capable of.
