Kalvin Phillips and Jamie Shackleton reply to Spurs’ Jack Clarke on Instagram
Kalvin Phillips and Jamie Shackleton were amongst a host of former teammates to react to Jack Clarke’s Instagram post after the winger made his first appearance for Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday.
Clarke has had a tough time since completing a £10 million move to Spurs last summer ().
He struggled for game-time back on loan at Leeds United, and then had similar issues at Queens Park Rangers after moving there in January.
And some Tottenham fans may have been concerned that they had overpaid for a youngster who was going to struggle to realise the initial potential he showed.
However, there have already been promising signs at the start of this season.
Clarke came on for the second-half of Tottenham’s pre-season friendly with Ipswich Town on Saturday. And while no goals were added after the break, the winger looked lively.
It is perhaps too soon to say what the plans for Clarke will be this term. But perhaps a few more bright displays like that may tempt Jose Mourinho to keep him around the first-team squad next season.
Understandably, Clarke took to social media following the win to express his delight at making his first appearance for the club following his 2019 switch.
