The 24-year-old was electric for the Gunners at the Emirates Stadium yesterday as Havertz opened the scoring for Arsenal in what was to be a UEFA Champions League rout for the north London side.
The result confirmed Arsenal’s place in the next round of the competition as group winners, and , Havertz seemed to send a message to former Gunners playmaker Ozil.
‘Ya Gunners Ya’ was a catch-phrase coined by Ozil during his time at Arsenal, with Havertz now seemingly taking over the quote having now scored in back-to-back games.
Indeed, the throwback will please a certain section of Arsenal supporters who loved Ozil’s antics on social media during his time at the club.

Kai Havertz will want to do better than Mesut Ozil at Arsenal

Ozil’s career at Arsenal was mixed, to say the least, and Havertz will want to leave a more lasting impact at the north London club when his time is done with the Gunners.
The former Chelsea man has had a rough start but is now finally starting to look the part in Arteta’s midfield, with Havertz exceptional last night against Lens.
Whilst a few more strong performances are needed, there’s no denying that the Havertz project is now turning into something quite exciting based on the last two games.
And for the German international, exceeding Ozil’s legacy at Arsenal will be on Havertz’s mind, with this season potentially a defining one for the midfielder.
