‘Just immense’: Some Spurs fans blown away by £80k-a-week man’s ‘superb’ display on Monday night
A number of Tottenham Hotspur fans have waxed lyrical about Toby Alderweireld’s performance on Monday night as Jose Mourinho’s Spurs ran out 1-0 winners at Burnley.
The North Londoners triumphed in a scrappy contest in Lancashire, settled by Son Heung-min’s 76th-minute header from Harry Kane’s delivery.
The South Korean was left unmarked at the back post to nod home his eighth league goal of the season after Kane had flicked on an Erik Lamela corner.
While many plaudits went Son and Kane’s way for their almost telepathic understanding on the pitch, Alderweireld was also praised for his impressive display at the back.

£ ace, starting his third Premier League game of the season, was solid throughout the game and, alongside Eric Dier, kept the big Burnley frontmen at bay.
Alderweireld even battled through the pain after receiving a blow to the head which drew blood, leading to a delay as he was bandaged up.
Here is what some Tottenham fans made of the 31-year-old Belgian’s display on the night:
I know The Kane-Son axis would get all the glory, but our main man was Toby Alderweireld tonight. Kept things together at the back. He’s my man of the match. Toby was just immense. 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
