Jurgen Klopp should hand Divock Origi a run out vs West Ham
Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp will be without Sadio Mane for Wednesday’s Premier League game against West Ham United.
on the Senegal international, after he was substituted off against Wolverhampton Wanderers last week.
He said: “Sadio will not be involved for West Ham and probably not for Southampton. After that he should be then fine.
“The week we have then after that is for him perfect to get back on track.
“He has a small muscle tear, which is serious enough to keep him out. We were lucky with the injury as well, so it was not that serious.”
It is a rare injury for Mane, who has played the vast majority of games for the Reds this season.
With 31 appearances to his name, he has missed just six games across all competitions (including the Club World Cup).
Mane is a big loss for the Reds and Klopp must now decide who he’ll turn to to replace the £34 million player ().
TBR’s view – Origi’s time to shine
The temptation will be for Klopp to select new signing Takumi Minamino, but he hasn’t shown a great deal in his three appearances for the club so far.
Divock Origi is without a Premier League start since December 4, when he got two goals against Everton.
The highly popular Belgian is probably itching to replace Mane out on the left-wing, especially with Pablo Zabaleta his likely opponent at right-back.
The veteran Argentine seriously struggles against pace – something Origi has in abundance.
Liverpool fans love to see Origi given a chance following his heroics for the club last season, and it feels as though he’s due an opportunity to add to his two previous goals from three league games against the Hammers.
