Jurgen Klopp says ‘world-class’ Liverpool player ‘couldn’t move’ after ‘painful’ injury last night

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has claimed that Alexis Mac Allister ‘couldn’t move’ after suffering an injury against Sheffield United last night.

The Reds picked up another win thanks to goals from Virgil van Dijk and Dominik Szoboszlai. It was a hard-fought victory over Chris Wilder’s side, which should give them a lot of joy, but Mac Allister’s injury is a big shame.

Jurgen Klopp shares update on Liverpool star Alexis Mac Allister’s injury

Liverpool star Alexis Mc Allister was on the end of a terrible tackle in the first half of the game against Sheffield United last night.

The Argentine, who joined the Reds from Brighton and Hove Albion in the summer, has produced multiple excellent performances in the middle of the park.

He scored a tremendous goal against Fulham last weekend as well, with Marco Silva branding the strike as ‘world-class‘ after the game ().

Last night, Mac Allister went down in pain after a strong challenge in the first half. Liverpool‘s physios strapped him up before stitching up the wound at half-time.

The midfielder came out for the second half, but he limped off after just 15 minutes as he was unable to continue. Jurgen Klopp has now claimed that he ‘couldn’t move’ because of his ‘painful’ injury.

He said, as quoted by : “Macca, it was a shame. Early, he stepped on his knee, there was a cut. As long as the wound was open, we just strapped it, obviously it was painful but he could play.

“Then, we stitched it, but then obviously it got a bit tighter there and then he couldn’t move anymore. Now we have to see how long that will take. I hope not too long.”

Mac Allister’s injury is a blow for Liverpool

Liverpool’s injury list is a pretty big one right now, and the last thing Jurgen Klopp needed was another player to be sidelined.

The Reds were already without Alisson, Diogo Jota, Joel Matip and Andy Robertson for the game at Bramall Lane last night, and there is a chance Mac Allister could be out for a little while too.

However, unlike the others on the list, the Argentine’s injury isn’t a muscular one, which means he could be back in action very soon.

Liverpool take on Crystal Palace next in what will be another tricky game. It will be interesting to see if Mac Allister can make it back in time for that this weekend.
