Jurgen Klopp says ‘the door is open’ for Rhian Brewster at Liverpool

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has said that ‘the door is open’ for youngster Rhian Brewster to come and make a name for himself at Anfield.

The teenager returned to action in a reserve match last week after over a year on the sidelines recovering from surgery on his knee and ankle.

Brewster fell awkwardly in a game against Manchester City U23s in January 2018 and has only now just started playing again – and he announced his return in exciting fashion with two goals against Northwestern University.

And now, Klopp has suggested the youngster could be a part of his plans next season.

“It was good to see Rhian back,” Klopp said in his press conference .

“It’s nice having him in training. It was his birthday this week, 19 years old, crazy. So much to come. Get him fit, keep him fit and then the door is wide open for him.”

TBR’s view

Brewster is clearly a very talented young player as evidenced by what he has already achieved at such a young age.

The U17 World Cup and golden boot winner reminded everyone of his ability with his two-goal cameo last week, and he could well make his mark with the first-team next season.

Daniel Sturridge is out of contract this summer and could move on, as could Divock Origi who has not set the world alight when given the chance.

Clearly Klopp is a fan of Brewster and he could well become the club’s next big success story after academy product Trent Alexander-Arnold.
