Jurgen Klopp says one Liverpool player’s concentration levels have become ‘absolutely incredible’
Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has waxed lyrical about Nathaniel Phillips following his superb performance for the Reds in the Champions League last night.
The 23-year-old was in inspired form against RB Leipzig, defending decisively, marking the opposition players tightly, and getting plenty of solid headers in.
Phillips’ heroics helped Liverpool to a clean sheet in a 2-0 win which saw the Anfield side through to the last eight of the competition, 4-0 on aggregate.

The Liverpool academy graduate has made 11 competitive appearances for the Reds, 10 of which have come this season alone.
And speaking after the game, Klopp sung his player’s praises, noting how much his concentration levels have improved too.
“What a boy he is, what a player he is, what a night it is for him,” Klopp told the Liverpool . “That’s absolutely great.
“The concentration level he shows now nearly week in, week out since he’s playing for us is absolutely incredible.
“He’s doing exactly the right things in the right moment. In the air he’s a monster but you could see it today, he’s football-wise not bad, really good.
“I couldn’t be happier for somebody than I am for Nat in this moment because it was a great game and not a lot of people get the honour to play a Champions League game.
“He has that now, he played a really good one, he won it and he’s qualified for the last eight in Europe – that’s really special.
“A few years ago nobody would have thought that and I’m really glad that he can experience it now.”

It’s not been the easiest of seasons for Liverpool, with so many injuries sidelining so many key stars.
This, however, means that players who may have previously struggled to get a chance are now doing so, and last night, Phillips really showed what he’s capable of.
