Jurgen Klopp hints ‘unbelievable’ Liverpool star isn’t fit enough to start today
Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has appeared to suggest that Joel Matip won’t be starting today.
The Reds wrap up their pre-World Cup programme by hosting Southampton at Anfield this afternoon.
Liverpool haven’t been at their best in the first half of the season amid a series of injuries.

However, the situation seems to be easing ahead of the campaign grinding to a halt for the World Cup.
Speaking at his pre-match press conference, Klopp said he had no new injury or fitness worries.
“Nobody is out from the players we had available for midweek or for the last game, I would say,” he told the Liverpool .
Klopp then provided updates on players who were returning to – or back to – fitness.
“Millie is back in training today, Naby is out and running, Lucho is back on the pitch and running,” the Reds boss continued.
Klopp went on to say that Matip is available for selection for the first time in a month.
The Liverpool defender completed a near-full workout in training ahead of the Saints clash.
However, Klopp hinted that Matip may not start.
The Liverpool boss said he “would be available”, but for the fact he only has one session under his belt.
“Joel trained, he trained with us,” continued Klopp.
“He was in three-fourths, pretty much the whole session but the last bit he didn’t do.
“But he is now obviously available as well – would be available but has only trained once with the team.”

Matip should get chance to fully recover
Matip is an “unbelievable” player who brings a lot to Liverpool.
However, it’s probably best that he doesn’t start today, so as to not overwork him on his return.
By the sounds of it, Matip could be an option off the bench.
He at the World Cup, so he can rest and work fully on his fitness at the club.
