‘Absolutely’: World Cup winning manager would love Tottenham job

Former Tottenham striker and German legend, Jurgen Klinsmann, has admitted that he’d ‘absolutely’ be interested in taking the Spurs job.

Klinsmann enjoyed two spells with the North Londoners back in the 90s and is a firm fan favourite and cult-hero. His legendary ‘Klinsmann Dive’ celebration, the stuff of legend at Spurs.

The World Cup winning star has since gone into management, with varying degrees of success. Spells with the USA, Germany, Bayern, and Hertha Berlin, all yielding different results.

But speaking to Gary Lineker on the last night, Klinsmann admitted he’d love the Tottenham job, and he’s already spoken to Levy.

“Well I called Levy after he left Mourinho go. And he said he had so much to do to sort out, let’s talk a little later on,” Klinsmann said.

“Spurs is in my heart, absolutely would I consider that.

And when pressed by Lineker and asked if he’d be very interested, Klinsmann once again responded with a resounding ‘absolutely’.

Tottenham’s hunt for a new manager is becoming a bit of a nightmare scenario for Levy and co. Their move for Paulo Fonseca fell through, while a bizarre approach for Gennaro Gattuso was also put on the backburners.

Klinsmann to Tottenham? Some Spurs fans would love it

Given the debacel Tottenham fans are witnessing at the moment, Levy could do far worse than bring a club legend back into the fold.

Klinsmann knows the club. He also loves the club. So in that sense, it would be a smart appointment.

Of course, the German would need to be successful. He hasn’t had enormous success as a manager but with the USA, he did a fine job over a good period of time. Crucially, the US also have a pool of young players who Klinsmann helped along.

In terms of the here and now, Tottenham could do far worse.
