Jude Bellingham makes claim concerning Leeds’s Kalvin Phillips

Jude Bellingham has named Leeds United star Kalvin Phillips on Instagram as the best player he has come up against at this stage of his career.

Bellingham is one of the most talked-about players in the Championship right now. The 16-year-old has been outstanding for Birmingham City.

And while the Blues look set for another year in the second tier, the teenager appears destined to be playing at the highest level in the near future.

that Manchester United are prepared to pay an initial £35 million to sign Bellingham, with add-ons potentially taking their offer up to £50 million. Meanwhile, Chelsea and Borussia Dortmund also reportedly want the youngster.

So it may mean a fair amount to Phillips that Bellingham has named the Leeds star as the best player he has come up against.

Like Bellingham, Phillips has been a revelation in recent times. Marcelo Bielsa has produced a masterstroke pushing the Whites star into holding midfield.

And his performances have prompted the Elland Road faithful to label Phillips the ‘Yorkshire Pirlo’.

Also like Bellingham, it would be no surprise to see Phillips playing in the top flight next season. Luckily for Leeds, they appear to have a fantastic chance of ensuring that he goes nowhere over the summer.

Bielsa’s men are top of the Championship and, more crucially, sit seven points clear of third place Fulham.

And given the form that Phillips was in since his return from suspension, it is difficult to imagine Leeds letting their current position slip through their grasp.

For now though, here is what Bellingham posted on his Instagram story…
