Report: Newcastle want to show ambition by landing Manchester United man

Newcastle United could launch an ambitious swoop this summer to sign Manchester United attacker Juan Mata,

The 31-year-old will see his contract expire at Old🔯 Trafford in the coming months, with the Magpies able to pick💛 him up on a free transfer.

Newcastle are yet to sort out the future of manager Rafa Benitez, but if the Spaniard does stay he is keen for a re🌜union with the little magician.

Mata has worked under Benitez previously when the pair were🐬 together at Chelsea.

A deal to take Mata to St James’ Park would be dependant on the club’s willingness to relax t🔯heir transfer policy of not signing players over 3o.

The Spaniard scored six goals and claimed four ꦯassists for United last season but was seen as a peripheral figure by both Jose Mourinho and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

Maꦆta is paid £140k-a🧜-week at United and it seems likely that he will need to take a pay cut to join Newcastle.

TBR Verdict

Former Valencia, Chelsea and United attacker Mata would be an incredi𒐪ble signing for Newcastle if Benitez can pull off a deal.

His arrival could be about more than just what he does on the pitch. He could also tempt some of the club’s bigger players into staying; whilst he might also help Benitez lure other big💦-name players to St James’ Park.

This is a 🤡deal that Newcastle need to get done at all costs.
