Journalist shares what his sources are now saying to him about Alexander Isak and Chelsea
It’s been a hectic week in the transfer window.
The June 30th accounting deadline led to a flurry of activity and even more rumours as clubs desperately tried to balance the books.
Newcastle United were perhaps the most active team ahead of the deadline as they sold both Elliot Anderson and Yankuba Minteh, while they held discussions with Liverpool about Anthony Gordon.
Alexander Isak was also the subject of a lot of speculation, with Chelsea said to be keen, and speaking on NUFC Matters, Ben Jacobs has now shared what he’s heard from his sources about Chelsea and their reported interest in the Swedish striker.
What Ben Jacobs has heard about Alexander Isak
Jacobs shared what he’s been told by his sources about Isak and Chelsea, claiming that any suggestion of a swap-deal offer has been emphatically denied.
“Regarding Isak, the idea that Chelsea came calling and tried to trade Nicolas Jackson is played down by sources I speak to. In fact, emphatically denied, not just distanced, shut down, but there was a conversation,” Jacobs said.

Isak isn’t going anywhere
Alexander Isak is arguably one of the best strikers in the world these days, and Newcastle won’t be selling him.
While Isak would fetch a massive fee that would fix a number of Newcastle’s potential financial issues, the reality is that there isn’t a player on the transfer market right now who could replace what Isak brings to this Newcastle team.
Isak is a remarkable player, he has a skillset that other players simply don’t possess, and it’s understandable why Chelsea did have a conversation about signing him.
However, Newcastle are a very ambitious club, and they won’t reach the heights they’re looking to reach unless they keep hold of their star players.
Isak is certainly a wanted man, but he isn’t going anywhere this summer.
