Journalist shares what Tottenham have now told him about signing Conor Gallagher this month
Tottenham Hotspur might be interest in signing Conor Gallagher but suggestions they’ve opened talks to sign him have been played down.
last weekend from Italy claimed Tottenham had started talks with Chelsea over a deal to bring Gallagher to north London.
Since then, though, things have gone quieter with more talk of Gallagher actually signing a new deal at Stamford Bridge than moving away.
And speaking about the potential Gallagher to Spurs deal for , journalist Paul Brown has claimed the reports from Italy should be taken lightly.
Tottenham not in talks to sign Conor Gallagher as it stands
Speaking to GMS, journalist Brown says that right now, sources are indicating that there is simply no talks underway when it comes to Gallagher and Tottenham.

“Sources inside Spurs were very quick to make clear that they are not currently in talks with Chelsea for Conor Gallagher, so make of that what you will. It doesn’t mean that the transfer might not end up happening by the end of January, but there is always a reason why a team comes out to deny something so quickly. I would take any more news from Italy about that one with a pinch of salt,” Brown said.
Chelsea boss Mauricio Pochettino is keen to keep hold of his captain at the moment.
Further, the Blues are believed to have whacked a huge on Gallagher’s head as well, up from a previous figure of £50m.
Gallagher deal getting harder to do
There was a point in time where it looked like Gallagher to Tottenham might actually be a goer.
But as time ticks on, it’s now looking less and less likely that Spurs get it done.
The asking price, the fact Gallagher seems happy in Chelsea, and the fact Pochettino still wants him about, all point to this deal being nigh on impossible to do.
Right now, Tottenham would be better moving on and looking at other targets.
