Journalist shares what he’s hearing about Charlie Cresswell at Leeds

Charlie Cresswell has been making headlines at Leeds United recently.

The young defender and his have both posted cryptic messages on as of late hinting that things aren’t quite right at Elland Road.

It would appear as though the centre-back isn’t happy with his gametime, and after failing to even make the squad against Peterborough at the weekend, we can understand why.

The recent social media activity has caused plenty of speculation about what’s going on behind the scenes at Leeds, but according to Graham Smyth, speaking on the , there’s been no suggestion that Cresswell is kicking up a fuss or doing anything wrong at Leeds right now.

Cresswell hasn’t kicked off

Smyth shared what he’s heard.

“Yeah, ultimately it doesn’t really matter whether something has happened behind the scenes, but there has been no suggestion that anything has kicked off or that Charlie has done anything wrong. Let’s look at the evidence though, Farke says that they rate him really highly, and that his future is at Leeds, then they go to Peterborough without Liam Cooper or Pascal Struijk and the fourth-choice centre-back doesn’t make the squad and a midfielder who has played every minute of every game plays at centre-back and doesn’t get a break,” Smyth said.

Keep focused

Cresswell has every right to be frustrated with his current situation, but all he can do now is keep focused, work hard and hope that it eventually pays off.

This young man does have the talent to play a part at Leeds one day, but, for now, he doesn’t appear to be a part of the manager’s immediate plans, and that’s fine.

Maybe there’s a conversation to be had about a potential loan, but at the age of just 21, he doesn’t need to make any silly mistakes and start kicking off with his manager at such an important part of the season.

Cresswell’s best bet may be to keep his head down, work hard and hope that he’s eventually rewarded for his hard work.
