Journalist shares what a source close to Newcastle’s Callum Wilson has now told him

Newcastle United have been busy when it comes to selling players this summer.

Elliot Anderson and Yankuba Minteh have already left the club, and now, another player could soon be out of the door at St James’ Park.

Indeed, Callum Wilson is being strongly linked with a move away from Tyneside, and, by the sounds of things, he could well be set to head to the middle east.

The Saudi Pro League has taken a number of players from the Premier League over the past 12 months, and Wilson could be the next player to follow that trend.

Speaking on NUFC Matters, Ben Jacobs has been discussing Wilson’s future and his links to Saudi Arabia, and after speaking to someone close to Callum Wilson’s camp, he’s led to believe that Wilson would strongly consider the chance to move to Saudi Arabia.

Callum Wilson open to Saudi Arabia move

Jacobs spoke about Wilson and how he feels about moving to Saudi Arabia.

“It will depend on if the player wants to go, I spoke to someone close to the camp of Wilson and I was led to believe that he would strongly consider it (a move to Saudi) at this point in his career,” Jacobs said.

Callum Wilson Saudi move would be a shame

While the appeals of a move to Saudi Arabia are obvious, it does feel as though it would be a shame if Wilson left the Premier League at this juncture.

The player himself has been clear that he still has ambitions of playing for England, while he’s only 12 goals away from entering the Premier League 100 club.

Wilson is still more than good enough to have an impact at Premier League level, but, as the old saying goes, money talks, and if a Saudi club comes in and offers him a huge paypacket, it would be hard to turn down.
