Journalist shares Michael Olise release clause twist as Newcastle look to land summer deal

Journalist Matt Law has now shared a potential twist in the race to sign Michael Olise this summer as Newcastle United seek marquee signing.

An interesting summer transfer window awaits Newcastle with Eddie Howe‘s side one of the clubs believed to be in need of selling players this month.

Despite this, Newcastle are still looking to bolster their squad with quality options ahead of the 2024/25 campaign having struggled massively through injuries last term.

And one of the players who PIF are believed to be looking to bring to St James’ Park this summer is Crystal Palace’s Michael Olise.

And there has now been some further fuel added to the fire when it comes to the 22-year-old’s believed release clause.

Newcastle handed fresh Michael Olise release clause insight

The Toon have now made contact with the Eagles this summer over a potential move for Olise.

It is claimed the forward could cost Newcastle in the region of £60m this summer if they are to land the talented youngster.

But Newcastle are not the only club who are said to be keen on the 22-year-old this summer with Chelsea and Bayern Munich also credited with an interest.

Speaking on the , Matt Law has revealed what he has been told from within the Chelsea camp about Olise’s reported release clause.

“If you speak to people at the Palace end you get told quite a lot about a supposed buy-out clause, maybe as much as £60m,” Law said.

“And it has been mentioned that it might only be applicable to Champions League clubs. We speak to people at the Chelsea and they’re very definite that it’s not applicable to only Champions League clubs, and that there might not even be actual clause.

“So I’m very, very wary of clause talk, but there seems to be a deal that can be done for him. Like I say, those three clubs [Chelsea, Newcastle and Bayern Munich] have got permission to speak to him.”

Newcastle face stern competition for Michael OIise

In Olise, Newcastle could land themselves a serious upgrade this summer with the likes of Miguel Almiron potentially making way over the coming weeks.

Howe may also have Harvey Barnes to choose from on the right, but adding a player of Olise’s quality would only be positive for the Magpies’ hopes for the new season.

But with those types of numbers, Newcastle are going to be up against it in the race to sign the 22-year-old talent.

Spending £60m on a player at Newcastle would surely put him in line for a spot in the starting XI on a regular basis, but there would be a natural draw to playing for a club the size of Chelsea or Bayern.
