Journalist says Tottenham are prioritising Raphinha over Richarlison

Journalist Ryan Taylor that Tottenham Hotspur are now prioritising Leeds United talisman Raphinha over a move for Richarlison this summer.

Spurs fans are patiently waiting for their side to start spending the big money after making three shrewd signings. And it does seem that much of their budget will be used on strengthening their ranks in the final third.

It had appeared that a move for Richarlison was near the top of the list. Reports this week claimed that a bid for the Everton star was likely to be made before the end of the month.

But they are also keen on Raphinha. And reports stated that an offer was expected this week with Leeds holding out for £65 million for their top goalscorer.

Spurs fans may be a little divided over which player is the better target. Both played absolutely vital roles in keeping their respective sides in the Premier League. And they have a lot of potential.

But Taylor has suggested that it is the Leeds man who is attracting more attention from inside Hotspur Way.

“I think Spurs are edging slightly more towards Raphinha at the moment,” .

“I think if you look at Richarlison’s profile, my personal view is he’s mainly better centrally and if you look at Tottenham’s side, he won’t have many opportunities through the middle. Outside of that, he sometimes plays off the left, and Son plays there as well.”

Tottenham fans will not be too disappointed whichever one they end up – should they manage to complete a deal.

Richarlison has the ability to provide cover and competition for Harry Kane. And he can play in a couple of other roles if Antonio Conte wishes to use him and Kane in the same team.

Raphinha meanwhile, would take some of the pressure of off the likes of Dejan Kulusevski and Son Heung-min. He also has the potential to play as a wing-back, which should appeal to Conte.
