Journalist says the entire Spurs board ‘unanimously agree’ that they should sign Alessandro Bastoni

Tottenham Hotspur have been heavily linked with a move for Inter Milan defender Alessandro Bastoni for a while now, and the Spurs board ‘unanimously agree’ they should sign him.
Reports revealed much before last season ended that Spurs boss Antonio Conte’s priority is to bring in a new player at left centre-half – someone who would be an upgrade on Ben Davies.
The Welshman was really good for Tottenham last season, especially in the final few games of the campaign. In an ideal world, he deserves to keep his place in the side, but if Spurs want to reach the next level, they have to bring in someone a lot better.
Bastoni is reportedly Conte and Fabio Paratici’s preferred option for that role, but Spurs just haven’t been able to convince the Italian to make the move.
Tottenham board unanimously agree on Alessandro Bastoni
Just over a week ago, just when it looked like Spurs were making progress in their pursuit of £51 million-rated Bastoni, the Italian’s agent came out and claimed that his client will be staying at Inter Milan this summer.
That all but ended Spurs’ chances of signing him in this window, but Tottenham’s board like Bastoni so much that they are not prepared to end their interest in him – even though they are now set to look at other options.
That’s according to the Daily Express journalist Ryan Taylor.
He told : “I think the players that will make way [at Inter] will be Milan Skriniar and Denzel Dumfries. That seems to be the suggestion, which is interesting because Dumfries has obviously been really good since joining.
“I do think now Spurs will move on to other targets, but I don’t think they’ll end their interest in Bastoni. He remains a player the board unanimously agree on.”

TBR View:
Bastoni is clearly Tottenham’s primary defensive target this summer and rightly so as the Italian has the potential to become one of the best centre-halves in the world in a few years’ time.
However, there’s not a lot Spurs can do if he just doesn’t want to leave Inter Milan this summer.
If Taylor’s words are to be believed, Spurs will not end their interest in Bastoni irrespective of what happens in this window. That’s definitely the right thing to do as the 23-year-old really is a fantastic player.
It will be interesting to see who Tottenham will turn to if they cannot get Bastoni this summer. However, don’t be surprised if Conte finds a way to convince his young compatriot to make the move – either now or at some point in the near future.
