Journalist now thinks £18m West Ham player leaving today would be ‘a bit of a shock’
Journalist Luke Edwards has claimed Maxwel Cornet leaving West Ham would be quite the surprise given how light the Irons could soon be on the wings.
The Ivory Coast international has been linked with a move away from the London Stadium this window, with Crystal Palace reportedly interested in signing Cornet.
However, with Said Benrahma and Pablo Fornals both reportedly inching towards exits, selling a third winger in Cornet would be an unusual decision from West Ham.

And , the Telegraph’s Edwards labelled Cornet’s potential exit as a shocking one, especially given how recently the Irons signed the winger for £18m.
Edwards said on Cornet potentially departing West Ham today: “Cornet leaving, I would find that as a bit of a shock, particularly if West Ham aren’t going to bring anyone in.
“So that may well not happen, but he’s one of those players who’s on the periphery of things, so Crystal Palace could move.”
West Ham would be foolish to sell Maxwel Cornet today

With Benrahma and Fornals seemingly set to leave today, West Ham are looking somewhat light in the wide-attack should David Moyes fail to bring in a replacement.
Although letting Cornet leave would make some sense given the forward’s poor form since joining the club, West Ham would be foolish to let themselves become so vulnerable in the wing position.
As a result, the Irons might need to bite their tongue with this transfer and allow Cornet to stay for the remainder of the season, with squad depth necessary if the Hammers are to qualify for Europe again.
