Journalist makes promising update on reported Leeds target Nicolas Tagliafico
De Telegraaf journalist Mike Verweij has revealed that Leeds United’s interest in Ajax defender Nicolas Tagliafico is more serious than first imagined following reports that the Yorkshire side are keen on the fullback.
, Verweij admitted that Leeds’ interest in the 28-year-old is real, with the Dutch journalist saying when asked about Tagliafico’s future: “Leeds’ interest appears to be more serious than anyone assumed. Internazionale also appears to be in the market.”
last week that Leeds, as well as Manchester City, were on high alert as Ajax are open to selling Tagliafico this summer, with the Amsterdam giants willing to let the defender leave for just £13m after three years in the Dutch capital.
The left-back was part of the Ajax team that went all the way to the UEFA Champions League semi-finals in 2018/19.
Although the 28-year-old is eager to play continental football next season, The Daily Mail report states that Tagliafico would be interested in playing under Marcelo Bielsa, who has transformed Leeds into one of the most entertaining teams in the Premier League in their debut season back in the English top-flight.

With some major clubs all interested in Tagliafico, it would be one heck of a coup from Leeds if they were able to sign the Argentina international ahead of the likes of City and Inter Milan, and if they can pull it off, it could well be the beginning of something wonderful for the Whites.
Leeds have blown expectations out of the water in their first season back in the Premier League, looking set for a mid-table finish in the standings after 16 years away from the top-flight, and if Bielsa remains for next season and can lure a player of Tagliafico’s quality to Elland Road, it might be the start of the Yorkshire club’s resurgence back to the top of the English game after many years away from the picture.
