Journalist has heard what Mikel Arteta may well do with Kai Havertz at Arsenal this season

Arsenal will now be putting together their final preparations for their 2024/25 curtain raiser on Saturday.

‘s side will be welcoming Wolves to north London as Arsenal look to get their title charge underway in style.

The Gunners have not exactly been busy in the summer transfer market with the only signing of the summer being Riccardo Calafiori.

There are still just over two weeks for Arsenal to add to their squad and Edu Gaspar is working on doing so.

Arsenal are now expected to go back in with another bid for Mikel Merino over the coming days, but Arteta’s focus will now be on the game against Wolves.

And there is one player in Kai Havertz who could be set for an interesting role in the game on Saturday.

What Mikel Arteta has planned for Kai Havertz vs Wolves

Arsenal are going into the new season without any new recruits to bolster their front line despite seeing Gabriel Jesus struggle last season.

Victor Osimhen is a player who Arsenal have sounded out this summer but it looks like he is keen to join Paris Saint-Germain.

Having played a lot of last season up top, journalist Dean Jones has now claimed Havertz could be set for a different role this term.

Havertz enjoyed a seriously impressive first season in north London where he returned 13 goals and seven assists in the Premier League alone, but this may not stop Arteta from putting the German back into midfield.

“I have heard it’s plausible. I have heard it. The guy mentioned Wolves as a game specifically to me,” Jones said on the .

“He said there is logic behind that and it wouldn’t be a massive surprise if Havertz was playing as an eight and Jesus was playing as a nine.”

Arsenal need a new striker this summer

Seeing your first choice striker provide a return in the Premier League of just four goals simply is not good enough for a side that is wanting to challenge for the league.

Of course, Havertz was able to slot in nicely and return a solid return when Jesus was not available, but Arsenal need a striker they can rely on.

Over the last two Premier League seasons, Jesus has returned Arsenal with just 15 goals; Arsenal should have a striker who offers at least that every season.

Considering how well Havertz performed as the centre-forward last season, it may not be a decision that would go down too well in north London if Jesus does not hit the ground running from Saturday.
