Journalist claims Newcastle will swoop for £40m powerhouse if Botman bid fails
Newcastle United will swoop for Benoit Badiashile if they fail to land Sven Botman, according to Jacque Talbot.
The Magpies are once again being linked with Botman, but things don’t seem to be heading in the right direction.
Italian journalist Nicolo Schira has that the Lille defender would prefer to join AC Milan over Newcastle.

Lee Ryder wrote in that Botman “has opted to wait to see if Milan can come to a solution as far as making an acceptable offer to Lille is concerned.
“So far Milan have had an on-off stance on Botman and the Serie A champions also refused to match Newcastle United’s whopping £46million move for the 6ft 5in centre-back.”
Ryder added that “the Magpies do have a back-up plan that they won’t activate until they get a ‘definitive no’ from Botman, something they haven’t had at this stage.”
“He’d be the one through the door”
The Chronicle article didn’t name a second-choice player.
But Talbot, writing on , reckons Badiashile is that option.
“He’s someone they took a look at in January. And it was quite heavily reported,” he wrote of the £40million-rated ace.
“I think if this Botman bid fails, I think he’d be the one through the door.
“He’d be the one they go for… he’s again, young, Ligue 1, left-sided.
“He’d be the one through the door next if Botman does end up going to Milan or that deal collapses.”

Badiashile would be a great shout for Newcastle, a young, incredibly talented and fairly experienced player.
Despite only turning 21 in March, he already has 119 competitive Monaco appearances under his belt.
Badiashile also captains the France Under-21 team, testament to his leadership skills.
The 6ft 4in powerhouse has previously admitted that he ‘dreams’ about playing in the Premier League.
“I had some contact with English clubs (in January), but this was just informal contact,” Badiashile told .
“For me, the Premier League is the best league. So, naturally, I dream about it.”
