, Nicola claims that Gerrard’s men are now interested in signing the young midfielder. But they’ll face stiff competition.

Barcelona, Lyon and Newcastle are all eyeing a possible move for Santos.

Eddie Howe’s men have apparently tabled an offer and Vasco are looking for at least £33.3 million.

Santos has also recently signed a new five-year contract, so the Brazilian club is in a good position to demand a high fee.

It’s unclear whether Villa have tabled a bid for the player yet as Santos will only be allowed to move in January.

Steven Gerrard was busy bolstering his Villa squad over the summer as he brought in a total of seven players.

Santos would certainly represent an investment for the future and is currently playing in Brazil’s second tier.

The youngster has shown brilliant promise as he’s bagged five goals in 26 appearances for Vasco.

The Brazil U20 international clearly has a big future ahead of him as he’s attracting interest from a host of top European clubs.
