Journalist can’t believe Celtic haven’t tried to sign 28-year-old player who’s tipped to go to Rangers
As the transfer window ticks on, the Celtic fans are anxious to see Brendan Rodgers add more faces to the squad. Especially after watching the performance of the team in the 1-0 win over Ross County.
With Kyogo Furuhashi failing to score on Saturday and looking exasperated, Celtic have been told that there is a player they should be looking to sign to help take the burden off the 29-year-old Japan international.
Journalist, Bill Leckie, was speaking about Hearts striker, Lawrence Shankland, and has admitted that he is surprised that Brendan Rodgers has not made a move for the Scotland international.
Leckie said [], “The accepted wisdom is if Lawrence Shankland leaves Hearts, it’ll be for Rangers.
“But after yet another performance as stodgy as the pitch they play on, is anyone else surprised that Celtic haven’t made a move? Because I sure am.
“To me, Shankland is what Brendan Rodgers is short of — a frontman to take the burden off Kyogo, someone to turn all their possession into wins way more convincing than the kind they got against Ross County on Saturday.”
Lawrence Shankland for Celtic?
Leckie isn’t the first person to tip the Hearts man for a move to Celtic. Shankland’s impressive goalscoring record has caught the attention of Glasgow rivals, Rangers, and , the Ibrox club have scouted the player four times already this season.

The 28-year-old has hit 19 goals in all competitions and is the Scottish Premiership‘s top goalscorer on 14, four ahead of Celtic’s Matt O’Riley and six in front of Kyogo Furuhashi. []
Shankland’s contract is set to expire at the end of next season so the transfer fee required to bring him to Celtic Park wouldn’t be too substantial.
But would he be the signing that would appease the Celtic fans? There is no doubt that he has an eye for goal and given the amount of chances Celtic creates he could thrive under Brendan Rodgers.
With less than four days to go till the window slams shut, the Celtic fans will be anxiously waiting to see who Rodgers brings to the club to help with the title run-in.
