Josh Windass reacts as Rangers sanction sale of Greg Docherty

Rangers have confirmed the sale of Greg Docherty to English League One side Hull City after the midfielder struggled to get himself involved in Steven Gerrard’s first-team plans – and Josh Windass has responded on Twitter.

Docherty, 23, joined Rangers in January 2018 after impressing at Hamilton – where he had clocked up 109 appearances before the age of 21. But a move to Rangers failed to see Docherty prosper, playing just 19 times.

He failed to score for Rangers, though did lay on six assists in his 19 outings. He has enjoyed two loan spells, spending the 2018-19 campaign with Shrewsbury in which he had a hand in 21 goals during 50 appearances.

Last season, he remained at Rangers until January before joining Hibs where he scored three and created five in eight games. But that was not enough to save his Ibrox career, with Steven Gerrard choosing to cash in on Docherty.

It seems Gerrard prefers the likes of Scott Arfield, Joe Aribo and Glen Kamara in the middle of the park – despite Docherty’s stunning goals and assists stats wherever he has played. He has instead, moved to Hull.

Windass – whose Father is a legend at Hull City and Josh himself featured for as a child – reacted to Docherty’s move to the KCOM Stadium, wishing him good luck.
