Josh King posts on Instagram after making Everton debut, comments on move

Josh King has posted on Instagram after he made his debut for Everton on Wednesday night against Leeds United, after his move from Bournemouth on deadline day – a deal that required one of the Premier League’s deal sheets.

King, 29, has been signed by Everton with the Toffees allowing Cenk Tosun to return to Besiktas – while Moise Kean continues to impress on loan at Paris Saint-Germain. Carlo Ancelotti needed a back-up striker.

On deadline day, Bournemouth agreed fees with both Everton and Fulham but the 51-time Norway international chose to rival Dom Calvert-Lewin for a place in the Toffees side – rather than a relegation scrap at Fulham.

However, King has only signed a short-term deal lasting until the summer and while the option to extend that is likely to be included in his initial contract – he will need to prove to Everton and the club’s supporters he deserves it.

Everton produced a good enough performance to beat Leeds 2-1 away from home, thanks to two first-half goals from Gylfi Sigurdsson and Calvert-Lewin. Raphinha scored his fourth for Leeds, but they failed to build on that.

King was introduced in the dying moments of the match, being used as more of an attacking winger than a striker as Ancelotti turned to his bench for fresh legs. He posted on Instagram, commenting on the Goodison Park atmopshere.
